Iran dominated the first set with the powerful offense led by Fayazi with the support of Ghafour and Mirzajanpour. The Iranians led at the technical stops 8-4 and 16-12. Nishikin and Shchadilov each had three points for Russia in the opening set. Fayazi, who closed the action with a spike, had six points while Ghafour and Mirzajanpour each had four points. Iran won 25-19.
Ghafour and Mirzajanpour led Iran to a 8-5 lead in the second set. The Russian blocking stopped for moments the potent Iranian attack scoring with blocks by Nikishin and Filippov. Iran increased to 11-5 after block by Bagherpour. Playing excellent floor defense and at the net, Iran arrived to the second stop leading 16-9 with consecutive points by Salafzoon, Ghafour and Fayazi. Spike and block by Mirzajanpour expanded the margin to 20-11. Several Iranian errors allowed Russia to reduce the gap to 21-16 but Iran recovered with attack by Bagherpour and eventually won 25-17.
Shchadilov started with a couple of spikes and one ace and Russia led 4-2 early in third set. Iran tied at 4 with spike by Mirzajanpour and was in front 8-7 via spike by Fayazi. Ghafour broke a tie at 10 with a powerful spike and Iran led 16-12 boosted by Fayazi and a pair of Russian errors. Salafzoon restarted with one ace and Mirzajanpour stretched the lead to 19-12 with spike and block. Russia scored with spike and ace of Tsentalovich for 20-14. Iran won 25-18 with spike by Habibi.
