Iran succeeds as a surprise

Iranian Players happy for win
Two wins against the U.S. team and Japan had a comfortable situation for the Serbian boys. The defending champion from Iran absolutely needed a victory to qualify as two years ago for the round of the best eight teams.

Then the Iranian team began getting better and better enforced, and about 16-15 and 21-18, they got the first set win with 25-22 in 26 minutes playing time. In the second set were added to another seven blocks three points by service winner. Serbia, however, showed an unusual weakness in the attack and made only four points. With 25-11 for Iran after only 20 minutes, it was the clearest of all sets which have been played so far in pool B in Palazzo del Turismo at Jesolo.

In the last set, the Iranians were again the better team that day clearly. Although Serbia now somewhat more successful acted, the performance is not well enough to win the match. Only up to the 23-23 set was cleared. Then attended the pre-eminent Iranians Amir Ghafour with his 13th attack for the 24-23 and for the first matchpoint. A block of Hamed Bagherpour against the Serbs Milan Paric ended the match.
