Puerto Rico has qualified for three of the last four FIVB Boys Youth World Championships. The NORCECA powerhouse won the silver medal at the 2008 Continental Championship held in Florida, USA and gold at the 2006 championship in Dominican Republic.
This years team has very young athletes that will also be elegible for the 2011 Youth World Championship. The Senior Team of Puerto Rico is currently ranked 10th in the FIVB World Rakings. The Youth Team is an essential part of the Puerto Rico National Program, which is one of the few in the world that has been able to qualify both Mens and Womens teams to the Senior World Championships.
Prof. Ariel DÃaz will make his international debut as head coach of this exciting team. Prof. Carlos RodrÃguez joins him with his experience in previous Youth World Championships (2003, 2005, 2007). Puerto Rico shares its pool with Egypt, Tunisia and Italy. The team's expectaion is to qualify for the final round.

Prof. Ariel DÃaz makes his international debut as head coach of the Puerto Rico Boys Youth Team. Prof. DÃaz is an experienced coach at the college level and in the Puerto Rico Professional League, where he coaches the Gigantes de Adjuntas team.
Prof. DÃaz was named Coach of the Year in 2004 and led Gigantes de Adjuntas to the league finals in 2006. He was also assistant coach of the Puerto Rico Men's Senior B Team that played in the 2009 Pan American Cup in Chiapas, México.
