Team profile |
|
The Youth Boys’ team, featuring players born in 1991 and 1992, started their official training programs and first international matches in 2006.
The majority of the players stay at the Polish Volleyball Federation Volleyball School, already well known in Europe for its activities and achievements, where they master the art of volleyball combined with regular secondary education.
This was the place where such national team players as M. Winiarski, M. Mozdzonek, M. Bakiewicz, W. Grzyb and G. Szymanski graduated from.
The most significant achievements of the team so far are as follows:
2006 – mini EEVZA – First place
2008 – EEVZA – First place
2009 – YBECH – Fourth place
The team is made up of players in excellent physical condition and height: 10 players stand over 200cm. The standouts on the team include Mateusz Mika (207 cm), who is also a receiver on the Junior Team playing at the World Championships in India, and Adrian Buchowski (193 cm), who was named best scorer at the YBECH in Rotterdam.
While preparing for the Youth Boys World Championship the team is training in Zakopane, Zyradow and Krosno and prior to the event will take part in the EYOF in Finland. In the meantime they are expected to play friendly matches against Brazil and Russia.
The head coach of the team is Grzegorz Rys, who in previous years led the Junior National Team to the World Championship title in Tehran (2003).
