Team profile
The Indian Youth National Volleyball Team will be making its fourth consecutive appearance at the FIVB Youth World Championship in Italy.

India's best showing at the tournament was a silver medal in 2004.

The team earned its spot at the 2009 World Championship by finishing third at the Asian Youth Continental Championship in Sri Lanka last October.
Coach profile
G.E. Sridharan was born in 1954. He played more than 150 international matches for the Senior Men's National Team between 1970 and 1990. He played for an A2 club in Italy from 1982-1986 and was awarded the supreme national "Arjuna Award" as best player in 1982.

Sridharan is also a successful coach in India. From 1993, he has been attached to various levels of teams in the national program. He won the coach of the year award, "Dronacharya Award," in 2008.

Accomplishments as coach:

- Gold medal at the Asian Youth Volleyball Championship in 2003
- Silver medal at the World Youth Volleyball Championship in 2004
- Gold medal at the South Asian Federation Games in 2005
- Gold medal at the Central Asian Volleyball Championship in 2007
- Silver medal at the Commonwealth Volleyball Championship in 2007
- Bronze medal at the Asian Youth Volleyball Championship in 2008
- Qualified for 2009 World Youth Volleyball Championship
- Gold medal at the International Youth Level Tournament in Italy in 2009
