What Coaches say before
the competition
Algiers, Algeria, August 24, 2005 - All 16 teams at the 2005
Boys U19 World Champiosnhip are ready to go on the opening
day of the tournament on Wednesday. Here are what the
coaches had to say on the eve of the tournament.
Algeria head coach, El Hadj Belgacem: "We aim to bring all
our negative parts of our preparation to our side and to
compete in this tournament with the best teams in the world.
I think it will be a tough competition in presence of the
strong teams specially Brazil, Italy and Russia. In the
third time Algerian team participate in this competition we
aim to have more positive results. We play in a tough pool
with Egypt the African champions, the usual strong Korea and
one of the strong European countries Slovakia."
Korea head coach, Eun-Chul Kim: "We were the silver
medalists in the Asian Championship and we will do our best
to perform well in this competition between the big teams."
Egypt head coach, Sherif Elshemerly: "I hope good luck to
all teams here because every country is working hard through
this group of young players to have good future for
volleyball in their countries. This championship will be one
of the toughest competitions because there are at least
eight teams in the same standard. I followed up all the
participating teams through the internet and video and I
noticed that many teams can compete for the title. Our
objective is to qualify to the quarterfinal and then we can
see what to do after through the drawing of lots."
Slovakia head coach, Jaroslav Vlk: "We will play a difficult
competition and we hope to compete for the cup. I think
Brazil comes as a great favorite for this competition."
"Brazil head coach, Oncken Percy: "We came here for the
trophy but our way will not be easy in presence of the big
forces specially Russia, Poland and Italy. We will do our
best to make this year of a pure Brazilian volleyball after
our big success in the other competitions. I led my team to
win the world cup in this age category five times out of six
in our history and I hope to have it for the sixth time in
my pe! rsonal history and for the seventh time for my
country."
Argentina head coach, Fabian Muraco: "I think Brazil is the
most favorite for the cup this time. We are looking forwards
to have positive results between the big teams."
Bulgaria head coach, Guergoui Draganov: "We are happy to
participate in this big competition with the strongest teams
in the World. I can't expect the winner of the cup but I
hope good luck to all the teams."
Italy head coach, Mario Barbiero: "We depend on this team
for future of our volleyball. Our objective is to reach the
semifinal."
Poland head coach, Zazislaw Gogol: "As we are one of the big
volleyball countries so we play always for the cup. I hope
to repeat the great victory of our under 21 team who win the
cup in the world championship two years ago."
Canada head coach, Georges Laplante: "I'm happy to play
between the best teams in the world. I think we have a great
opportunity to go forwards and compete for the trophy."
India head coach, Chauhan: "We will play in a tough pool but
we hope to go through to the second round. Our Volleyball is
advancing and we will proof this in this competition."
Russia head coach, Vladimir Kondra: "This is one of the
strongest competitions because all the big volleyball forces
are present here. I expect my team can approach the final
against Brazil."
France head coach, Yves Logeais: "We play in the strongest
pool in the competition but our objective is to proceed to
the semifinal."
Tunisia head coach, Kamel Rekaia: "We played many
preparation matches and now we reached a good form to
compete at least to qualify to the quarterfinals. I think we
are playing in the death pool with Russia and Iran the great
favorites and France the strong competitor."
Iran head coach, Ahmad Poorkashiyan: "We are looking
forwards to compete for the title but we have to concentrate
against the big teams specially Brazil and Russia. I think
we have to work hard to achieve our goals." |
