Brazil eager for seventh
title
Algiers, Algeria, August 22, 2005 - The Brazilian Boys Under
19 team arrived on Monday to Algiers to compete for their
third title in a row in the 2005 Boys U-19 World
Championship due to start Wednesday in Algeria. Brazil comes
as one of the most favoured teams in the competition with
their prominent stars and broad history in this age category.
The first training session for Brazil team was followed up
with big number of spectators and coaches who came to see
the favorites. Brazil has won the trophy of this age
category six times out of eight including the last two
competitions 2001 in Egypt and 2003 in Thailand. Brazil also
wants to continue the golden season as they won all the
trophies this year except the Men's U-21 title won by Russia.
Otherwise Brazil won the 2005 World league, World Grand
Prix, Girls U-18 and Women U-20.
"We came here for the trophy but our way will not be easy in
presence of the big forces specially Russia, Poland Italy,"
said Brazil head coach, Oncken Percy. "We will do our best
to make this year of a pure Brazilian Volleyball after our
big success in the other competition.
