Hosts ready to compete
Algiers, Algeria, August 21, 2005 - The host team Algeria is
ready to compete in the 2005 Boys U-19 World Championship
due to start on Wednesday in Algiers and Oran as they ended
their preparation programme by a second friendly match
against Iran in Harcha Hall which will receive the
competition matches for Pools A and B.
Algeria lost for the second time against the well prepared
Iran team 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-12, 25-11) on Sunday after
they lost in straight sets the day before.
The host team started late due to cancellation of three
preparation tournaments in Spain, France and Czech, but they
played a tournament in Kelibia, Tunisia with the Tunisian
youth and Junior teams and Canada 18- 25 July. Then the
Algerian head coach El Hadj Belgacem played several local
matches against some Algerian clubs.
"We aim to bring all our negative parts of our preparation
to our side and to compete in this tournament with the best
teams in the world," said Belgacem. "I think it will be a
tough competition in presence of the strong teams specially
Brazil, Italy and Russia" |
