Egypt team head to Algeria

Algiers, Algeria, August 20- Egypt boys U-19 will head on Monday August 22 to the capital of Algeria to battle on the 9th Boys U- 19 World Championship due to start in Algiers and Oran 24 August to 1 September after the short preparation programme in the last six weeks. Egypt will compete in Pool A with the organizers, Algeria, South Korea and Slovakia aiming to repeat their best performance in the competition when they were ranked fourth in the competition they organized in 2001.

The preparation programme was delayed due to involvement of the majority of the players in the end year's exams so it started since 15th June for the big event under supervision of the head coach, Sherif Elshemerly who led the team to the most prestigious position in 2001. the coach announced the final line up of twelve players for the competition as he selected Hosm Yousef, Mohamed moustafa, Karim Farag (setters), Ahmed Hassan (opposite), Mohamed Abdelmoneim, Ahmed Aly, Mohamed Hassan (centre Block), Rami Samir, Mohamed Daabosy, Ahmed Elmahy, Ahmed Yousef (wing spikers).

The team was composed for the first time in 2003 to compete in the U-19 African Nations Championship in 2004 in South Africa where they won the title to qualify to 2005 World Championship. The team started preparation to the World Championship in February 2005 when they camped in Poland for 10 days playing five matches against Poland and a match against Italy.

The final preparation restarted after the school exams in the mid June and the team was completed in the first days of July playing in Egypt four matches against France when they won once 3-2 and lost three times 1-3, 1-3 and 0-3. They played another four matches against Poland where they won also once 3-2 and lost three times 0-3, 0-3, and 2-3.

"We will do our best to repeat our big victories in 2001 especially because we had now a powerful group of players most of them more than two meters height" Said Egypt Coach, Sherif Elshemerly. "We are looking forwards to qualify to the semifinal, but the way will not be easy" He added.
