FIVB World Grand Prix 2007

Coaches

Massimo Barbolini

Born in Modena on 29 August 1964, Massimo Barbolini had his first taste of coaching with men's teams, starting as assistant coach to head coach Julio Velasco for Panini Modena. After this experience he became head coach in Agrigento and then in Modena. He started working with women's teams in Matera in 1993-1994, remaining there for three seasons. In the 1996-1997 season he was in Rome where he stayed for a year, then moving to Perugia, where he is still working, in 1997-1998.

Evoking the 2007 World Grand Prix, he says "we want some young players and other players who didnít play with the National Team in the last years to gain experience but still for the team to give a good performance."

The last preparations for the World Grand Prix will include a month of work and a tournament in Italy 10 days before the competition. Barbolini says he expects Russia, Brazil, Poland, Cuba, the Netherlands, Japan and Italy to fight for a place in the final six in China.

His goals for 2007 and 2008 are to make it to the podium of the European Championship and to qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
