Athens, Greece, May 15, 2008 – Australia lost the second match Wednesday in a best-of-three series against Greece that is part of the Antipodeans' preparations for the Men's World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Japan.
Greece levelled the series at 1-1 by winning in straight sets 25-21, 25-21, 25-22 in Athens, with Australia unable to capitalize on their chances. Nathan Roberts topped the scoring for Australia with 12 points.
The final match was scheduled to be played Thursday before Australia headed to Slovakia to continue their preparations for the Tokyo tournament set for May 31 to June 8.
Australian downed Greece 3-0 on Tuesday in the first of three matches against their strong opponents, winning 25-22, 25-20, 25-20.
The Australians produced probably the lowest error percentage ever for the National Team in the opener, with just 7 percent of errors over the entire match.
Greece made a concerted effort to fight back, but the Australians never looked back. Roberts claimed a team-high 18 points.
Before coming to Greece, Australia played five matches against Argentina from May 5 to 9 in Argentina. The visitors won only one match. The Results:
