Algeria celebrates their second straight victory

ALGERIA

Head Coach Samir Zitouni: The last game took around two and a half hours, and that is why the players were a little bit tired. Thailand is a very good team, so we could not show our best form in the first and second sets, but the third set was much better. Yesterday's match was better than today's in terms of total content. We know that some very strong teams are coming in the next games. We are a young team with not much experience, so we want to enjoy them and show a surprise.

Captain Ali Kerboua: Yesterday we played a five-set match against Iran, so physically we were tired today. In the first and second sets we found the game difficult, but in the third set we felt better and our level improved. We want to play hard in the remaining matches. The best point we have improved since our last Olympic qualification tournament has been our confidence.

THAILAND

Head Coach Monchai Supajirakul: We lost the match, but I am happy with how my players performed today. They played especially well in the first and second sets. From the third set the problems started to appear, and our play had ups and downs. That was the main problem we had today. We are made up of young and new members, and it is true that time is needed to build up a good and unified team. This will be our subject to work on. Overall, I am happy today.

Captain Pongsakom Nimawan: We played hard in passing and attack. Of course we are lacking in some aspects, but we improved and were better than yesterday. We could make use of easy balls to attack. I think Algeria played well.
