Iran celebrates victory over Australia |
AUSTRALIA
Head Coach Russell Borgeaud: I think from our point of view a disappointing performance from our team. I started with some younger players who had finished the match against Algeria in good form and were not able to maintain that today. Credit to Iran. They played a good match and controlled our game very well. I was proud of the guys in the third set for the fight they showed, but it was not enough today.
Captain Ben Hardy: We did not perform our best, and it is a very disappointing finish.
IRAN
Head Coach Zoran Gajic: I felt the players could play better with each day and each match. They developed their skills. I also felt the players' lack of experience, for example against world-level teams such as Italy. We learned many things in this tournament. The OQT has been a precious experience for us. I think Italy and Japan will get the tickets for Beijing, and they are good representatives from this tournament.
Saeid Marouf: Today's match was very important. Australia had a very strong attack but we could play with good concentration and play better gradually. So we took the win. |
