The allocation of teams for the Men's World
Olympic Qualification Tournaments was decided
after the drawing of lots in Tokyo on March 3.
Düsseldorf, the capital of North Rhine -
Westphalia, boasts that it is Germany's "capital
of sport," with 400 sporting clubs and a huge
range of sporting venues situated in the city
including the ISS Dome which will play host to
the Olympic qualifying tournament.
In 2002, Düsseldorf got its first taste of
top-class Volleyball when it hosted a World
League tie between Germany and Russia,
generating an enthusiastic response from the
locals and thus making it an excellent location
for the upcoming event.
Brazil, Russia, Bulgaria, Egypt, Serbia, USA and
Venezuela have already booked their tickets to
Beijing through the FIVB 2007 World Cup or
Continental Qualification Tournaments, while
China have qualified as the host country.
