Lausanne, June 8, 2009 - A press conference to inaugurate
the 20th edition of the World League was held last week in Warsaw, Poland.
The conference was attended by Polish Volleyball
President Miroslaw Przedpelski, World League Director in Poland Natalia
Kostulska, Polkomtel S.A. Corporate Communication Director Dariusz Matuszak,
Polsat Television representative Jerzy Mielewski, Polish National Team player
Wojciech Grzyb, and Krzysztof Stelmach, second coach of the Polish National
Team.
"The World League will be very important for our new
Polish National Team Coach Daniel Castellani, because it will be the first
competition under his supervision," said Przedpelski. "The main aim
of this tournament is to build the team, to test new young players and give
them the occasion to present their capabilities.
"I am sure that the level of the competition will be
very high and as always the atmosphere on the tribunes will be amazing,"
Przedpelski continued. "I hope that the Poles will win promotion to the
finals in Belgrade.
Grzyb said the team will do its best to reach Belgrade,
but that it will not be easy. "The rivalry among blockers just to break
into the team will surely be very tough, but it only motivates me to work even
harder," Grzyb added.
Lódz, Wroclaw and Bydgoszcz will be the host cities
during the group phase in Poland, where the hosts will play Brazil, Venezuela
and Finland.
All matches featuring Poland will be televised live on
Polsat TV. The other matches will be broadcast on Polsat Sport, Polsat Sport
Extra and Polsat Sport HD.
