
New Venezuela Men's coach Gilberto Herrera of Cuba has vast experience in men's and women's Volleyball |
Caracas, Venezuela, April 16, 2009 – The Venezuelan Volleyball Federation recently hired Cuban Gilberto Herrera as men’s national team coach.
Herrera will be in charge during an important year for Venezuela as they compete in the 2009 FIVB World League, 2010 FIVB World Championship qualifiers, 2009 Bolivarian Games and 2009 America’s Cup.
Herrera, born in 1944, has a long career as a head coach for several countries, including Cuba, Spain, Turkey and Greece. He is also an FIVB Instructor, and has many courses and technical seminaries under his belt as a teacher and manager.
Venezuela Men played in both the FIVB World League and the Olympic Games in Beijing last year, finishing joint 13th and joint ninth, respectively.
