Puerto
Rico captain Hector Soto: I think we got a point. We’re happy with
the way we played, but not satisfied. We’ve been working to make
less mistakes. We took advantage of the mistakes they made.
U.S.
captain William “Reid” Priddy: We put in two great weeks of
practice. We came into the match mindful of the energy and committed
to getting a good start and it didn’t happen. We are one step
closer to our goal, which is the Final Round. When you are not fully
invested or concentrating, then you make unforced errors.
Puerto
Rico coach Carlos Cardona: It was a match with a lot of mistakes.
Whenever they gave us a chance to win sets, we took advantage of it.
The big difference is that they out-blocked us 20-3. In my mind, that
was the match.
U.S.
coach Alan Knipe: I thought we pressed a little early. We wanted to
be perfect and we’re not going to be perfect. Puerto Rico is a good
team. I thought we showed good character in coming back.
