Finnish Captain Tuomas Sammelvuo: Congratulations for the Polish team, but their win means our loss. We’re disappointed because we came here for six points. Poland played much better than yesterday, especially on the block. We had some ups, but definitely too many downs. This defeat caused we’re a bit farther from the Belgrade Finals. It also shows we still have a lot of things to improve.
Finnish Head Coach Mauro Berruto: Like Tuomas said, we had a lot of ups and downs. For too long we played on a very low level. This was also a merit of our rivals play. Today the Poles showed they can play much better than yesterday. Now we can only wait for the results in other groups to see if we make the finals or not. If we don’t, we start preparing for the next tournament which are World Championships Qualifications.
Polish Captain Michal Bakiewicz: We are very, very happy. In my opinion, we played a great match. Today the Finns had to deal with a high pressure and they couldn’t handle with it. It wasn’t easy to get up after three straight losses against Finland, but we proved ourselves and our fans that we can play really good. Many thanks to this fantastic public. Those people stick with us for good and for bad.
Polish Head Coach Daniel Castellani: I’m so happy! Today the doping was amazing again. I have no doubt Poland is the best place in the world to play volleyball. I’m very proud of this group, this team. The boys deserve a lot of respect. They are very young and everyone should appreciate what they achieved. We have to remember that for some of them this year’s World League was a debut in the national team. They had to deal with a lot of different obstacles like jitters, stress, fatigue, but they did a great job.
