Polish Captain Michal Bakiewicz: I’d like to congratulate our rivals. The key to their success today was the risk they took in the middle of each set in the serving area. We didn’t play bad, but it wasn’t enough to beat Finland. We lost a chance to overtake the Finns in the table, but we can assure all the fans we’ll do our best to win tomorrow’s game.
Polish Head Coach Daniel Castellani: The Finns presented the same high
level they showed at home. We played definitely better than in Tampere. We took much more risk, but it didn’t bring the results we expected. Though we had some good moments, it was not enough to get even a point. I would like to congratulate Mauro and his team this win because they deserved it.
Finnish Captain Tuomas Sammelvuo: Thank you for this unbelievable doping, it was great pleasure to play in front of such a fantastic public. Though we lost the second set, I think we controlled the match from the begining till the end. We played great block and defence, but we still can improve our reception. We’re very happy about the win, but we already think about tomorrow’s match.
Finnish Head Coach Mauro Berruto: It was a great victory for us. We came here with a lot of pressure and we were able to handle with it. To get a win in such an atmosphere means the team is very good prepared mentally, technically and so on. The second set was a little bit different, but after the break we found the rhythm from the beginning of the match and we won the game. We secured second place in the group and we stay in contention for the Wild Card for the Finals. We’re ready for tomorrow’s battle. After it, we’ll have to wait the weekend’s matches to be completed. Today we made another step to play in Belgrade.
