Puerto Rico was victim of their mistakes, Soto says

Hector Soto explains the reasons of the defeat against USA

Hector “Picky” Soto, Captain of Puerto Rico: “I have a lot of words but I am not going to use them. I really feel very upset, frustrated about the outcome. It was really embarrassing the way we played in the third and fourth sets. Playing that way, we are never going to attain our goals. We made too many mistakes due to our lack of concentration in key moments.”

William “Reid” Priddy, Captain of USA: “Both sides made more errors than they wanted. I am really glad to win after a tough battle. Our guys from the bench, Paul Lotnam and Brian Thornton, stabilized our game with key production coming off the bench.”

Carlos Cardona, Coach of Puerto Rico: “One key moment was when we lost the 8-4 advantage in the second set and could not close at 24-23. Our mistakes contributed to some kind of frustration when we lost a second set that could have been in our favor. On the other side, they converted 14 points with their blocks against zero from our side. They failed very few serves and we made many mistakes with our serves.”

Alan Knipe, Coach of USA: “First of all I am happy to get the win. We didn’t start the first set very well and had some problems finding our rhythm. Lotnam and Thornton did a good job and Stanley was very good tonight. Thornton got significant playing time and he did well in his first opportunity in the World League.”
