France pick up win to avoid playoffs

Samuele Tuia was on top form for France on Friday
Boulazac, France, July 1, 2011 – France avoided a FIVB Volleyball World League playoff spot by the narrowest of margins with a straights sets (25-18, 25-20, 25-23) win over Korea in Boulazac on Friday.

With the win France recovers to take third place in the pool.

The hosts had a good start with Samuele Tuia helping the side edge the lead. Antonin Rouzier scored seven points in the first set before Romain Vadeleux's spike closed proceedings.

Korea allowed mistakes to creep into their game as Nicolas Marechal and Rouzier put the home side ahead. The French failed to be pulled back as they extended their lead to 2-0.

France again began the third set well but Korea eventually found their rhythm and defended well. Korea pulled back to 14-14 with very nice period forJeon Kwan-in and they took the lead at 22-20.  A Gérald Hardy-Dessources spike then two Samuele Tuia's shots saw France come back themselves. Samuele Tuia then ended the match as the side picked up their third and final win of the tournament.
