Suwon, South Korea, June 13, 2009 - Korea beat Argentina
3-2 (20-25, 25-22, 34-36, 25-16, 15-13) in the first match of the 2009 FIVB
World League at Suwon Indoor Gym on Saturday.
In the first set, Korea opened with strong serves to take
the lead but was unable to hold onto it as Argentina's blockers stepped up
their game.
In the second set, Korean libero Yeo Oh-Hyun's perfect
defense and wing spiker Moon Sung-Min's tough spikes propelled the hosts. Team
Korea substituted its setter with Han Sun-Soo at 17-20, and won the second set
on the strong spikes of Shin Yung-Suk and Kim Hak-Min.
In a fierce and tough third set, the two teams' endurance
and power of concentration were outstanding.
Korea played with great spirit in the fourth and fifth
sets. Han Sun-Soo's constructive setting and Shin Yung-Suk's quick attacks
paralyzed Argentine's defense, as the hosts took the final two frames to secure
the win.
