Argentina seal second win over Finland

Argentina celebrate as they take a hold of Pool C in the 2011 FIVB Volleyball World League with victory over Finland
Lahti, Finland, June 11, 2011 – Argentina made little trouble of Finland on Saturday night as they sealed a straight sets (25-21, 26-24, 25-19) win over the hosts in their second match of the weekend in the 2011 FIVB Volleyball World League.

The South Americans strengthened their position in Pool C with five wins in six matches. A solid defense helped the side pick up the Finnish attack easily as the hosts made many mistakes.

There was a great atmosphere in the Isku Areena which was full of young volleyball players from the Power Cup tournament in Lahti. Argentinean Facundo Conte was again the best scorer of the match with 16 points.

Argentina had a good start to the game taking an early lead in the first set with a strong service and good defense. Finland fought back to draw level but a number of powerful attacks and excellent blocks saw Argentina take the first set.

The spectators began to make more waves in the second set as they settled into the match. The visitors block was suprem as they took a three point lead before Finland fought back yet again. The hosts moved ahead to a 23-20 leave but Argentina put on a monumental display to seal five points in a row and the second set.

Argentina were again dominant in the third set playing with great confidence and making few mistakes. Finland again looked to come back in the third but the Argentinean block held up as they clinched the win.

Next weekend Argentina face Portugal at home as Finland host Serbia.
