Lodz, Poland, June 28, 2009 – Brazil made the double on the Polish soil after a solid performance in the New City Hall. Canarinhos repeated the Saturday’s result and beat the Poles in straight sets.  South Americans needed only ninety minutes to win the game 3-0 (25-19, 25–21, 25-20).

It was fourth and final meet of the teams in the group stage of 2009 FIVB World League. Brazil took the fourth win. Vissotto led all scorers with 16 points while Marcin Mozdzonek had 10 points for Poland

Next weekend Poland will meet Venezuela in Wroclaw. Brazil will travel to Tampere to meet Finland.

Both coaches decided to make some changes in their opening lineups as Bernardo Rezende introduced four different players from Saturday’s game and Daniel Castellani two. Poland led on the first technical timeout 8-7. After the break the match was quite even, but such the Poles as the Brazilians made a lot of serve errors.  Canarinhos used some big plays from their middle-blockers and took a three point advantage (18-15). Polish players were unable to cut the deficit and the guests took the first set 25-19 after Michal Bakiewicz served the net.

In the second set Michal Ruciak replaced Bakiewicz as a wing – spiker on the Polish side. Thanks to a great blocking from Marcin Mozdzonek, the Poles enjoyed a two point advantage (8-6) at the firs technical timeout. Just like in the opening partial, Brazil started to take over control, but thanks to some difficult serves and great digging from Ruciak, Poland held a three point advantage (15-12). Reception faults cost the home team few points and the score was 16-15 in favor of Brazil at the second technical timeout.  The South Americans used their balanced attack and a very effective block to take the set 25-21.

The Poles came out with much more enthusiasm in the third set and won four point in a row. The momentum ended as fast as it started. Brazil took the advantage of the poor reception and setting problems of their rivals. Canarinhos were one point ahead at the first technical timeout.  Polish coach Daniel Castellani replaced Grzegorz Lomacz and Bartosz Kurek by Pawel Woicki and Zbigniew Bartman respectively, though the changes didn’t allow the hosts to catch up with the Brazilians. After another bench player Marcel Gromadowski (substitute of Jakub Jarosz) served the net, the guests took a 16-13 lead on the second technical timeout.  In the final part of the set the gap increased  and Brazil took the last set 25-20.
