Brazil starts second half of World League fighting final round place

Brazil are aiming to recover from last weekend's loss against USA
São Paulo, Brazil, June 15, 2011 – After three weeks of the 2011 FIVB Volleyball World League, Brazil will begin the second half of the Intercontinental Round this Saturday and Sunday at 15:00 GMT against Puerto Rico in São Paulo.

The nine-time champions will look to consolidate their lead in Pool A in their final two home matches this weekend before games in Tulsa, USA and Katowice, Poland.

“The loss against the United States was not good for us, principally because we lost for 3-1, which did not mean any point for us” Brazil coach Bernardo Rezende said. “If we had won one more set we would have one more point and United States one less.”

According the Brazilian coach, Puerto Rico improved a lot in the recent years. “We will have to beat Puerto Rico who are a dangerous team again,” he said. “We will play our last two home games and we will define abroad our classification for the Final Round. I believe that we will have to win in the United States and in Poland at least one more time to guarantee our classification.”

On the other side, Puerto Rico will fight for its first win in the 2011 FIVB Volleyball World League. Last weekend the Puerto Ricans lost to Poland in straight sets twice.
