The first match between Korea and Serbia in Pool B of the
2009 World League was held at the Jeonju Indoor Gym, which was packed with
about 5,500 volleyball fans on Saturday.
Korea played well in the first set but began to lose
their pace and eventually lost the game 1-3.
The crucial moments were in the second set, when the
teams were tied at 24-24. The Serbians edged the Koreans and won the set 29-27.
For the match on Sunday, Korea must improve their service
receptions against the powerful services of the Serbs, and they also need to
show better hitting from the wing-sides, not to mention more cohesive team
play.
If the Koreans can fix these problems and also display
their quick attacks in the middle, they might be able to pull off another
surprise on Sunday like they did last weekend in their 3-2 win over Argentina.
