Carlos Teixeira was born in Matosinhos, in 1976 and bgean playing volleyball at 11-years old for AA S Mamede, where he stayed for 10 years.
In 1997 he transferred to Leixoes SC for two seasons before moving on to Castelo da Maia GC (where he won a National Championship title), Vitoria SC, AA Alunos and finally SL Benfica where he won the National Championship and three Portugal Cups. In 2008 he travelled to France to play for Stade Poitevin Volleyball (Poitiers), his actual club, where he plays along with his national teammate and brother-in-law Andre Lopes. The 182-cm Libero played his first international match with the youth national team back in 1993.
Teixeira is tireless in his effort and commitment, playing for the team. A very good receiver and excellent in defense he is a fighter who always tries to do better. His presence in the past few years in Poitiers has given him even more competitiveness and leadership capacities. One of the most experienced and sociable players of the national team, achieving amongst others eighth at the 2002 World Championships, fifth in the 2005 World League and the gold in last year's European League Championship.
