Profile
Jochen Schöps has been Germany's go-to player for crucial points in the last few years. The 27-year-old is sought-after by the setters and mainly takes the shots. The 2.00 m tall player has made a name for himself internationally and is often named in the same breath as Clayton Stanley (USA) or Ivan Milikovic (Serbia). Still young, he was already successful when he was awarded most valuable attacker at the Junior European Championship in 2002. His continuous world class performances are also recognized by German fans, who awarded Schöps as ‘player of the year’ three times in a row (2007-2009). In 2010 Schöps was for the first time in years not part of the starting six because he was not able to show his best form and Grozer was a great substitute player.
