In 2000, he finished second in the Junior South American Championship. The following year, Murilo won the FIVB Volleyball Men's Junior World Championship. He played for the team that won the World League in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2010. In 2005, he won a gold medal in the World Grand Champions. In 2006, he won the World Championship, in Japan. In 2007, he won the Pan-American Games, the World League, the World Cup, the South American Championship, and was second in the America’s Cup, in Manaus, where he was the captain of the young Brazilian team. In 2008, Murilo won his first Olympic medal, silver at the Beijing Games, and finished second in the America’s Cup. The following, season, Murilo was an important player in Brazil’s victorious campaigns in the World Grand Champions Cup and the South American Championship. He currently plays for SESI-SP. Murilo had his best season in 2010, when he won the World League and World Championship and was elected the Most Valuable Player in both tournaments.
