   Profile
Andre Lopes was born in Seia in 1982 and started to play volleyball with the age of 17 at AA Coimbra where he played for five years before transferring to the Portuguese capital to play for SL Benfica for four years. In 2008 he travelled to Belgium to play for Noliko Maaseik, where he met former national team colleague Nuno Pinheiro. After two seasons in Noliko, where he won the Belgium National Championship, two Belgium Cups and two Super Cups, he moved to French club Stade Poitevin Volleyball pro (Poitiers), alongside national team colleague and brother-in-law Carlos Teixeira.

The 193-cm universal is one of the stars of the Portuguese team, and has been since his debut in 2001, and has an excellent capacity of impulsion, that is visible in his strong points: attack and powerful serve. His great experience at European clubs and on the national team makes him a consistent member of the Portugal team.
