Opposite Leandro has been wearing the Brazilian national uniform since his youth. In 2000, he was champion of the Youth South American Championships and later won two world titles with the Brazilian youth and junior teams. Playing for Unisul/Cimed, he won the São Paulo State Championship, the Visa Cup and two Santa Catarina State Championship titles. In 2005/06, he won silver in the Brazilian Superliga for Telemig Celular/Minas. In 2008, he played for the Brazilian team that won silver in the America’s Cup. The following season, he played as a regular in the World League, the World Grand Champions Cup and the South American Championship. With Italian club Trentino, Leandro also won the Club World Championship twice. He started the 2010 season winning the title of the World League and was an important player in taking Brazil to their third World Championship title, and also conquered the Italian league.
