Libero Alfee Reft (Oxnard, Calif.) joined the U.S. Men’s Team in 2007 after completing a two-year career at the University of Hawai’i. He transferred to Hawai’i from UC Santa Barbara in 2004 after redshirting in 2003 and playing sparingly in 2002.
By 2005, Reft had been named an AVCA All-American and was named an Asics/Volleyball Magazine first team All-American and Defensive Player of the Year. Reft collected 272 digs as a senior, setting a new UH single-season record. He tied for third in the nation in digs per game (2.67).
In 2007, Reft was named to the World University Games team that won the bronze medal in Bangkok, Thailand. In 2008, he played for the U.S. Men’s Team that won the gold medal at the Pan Am Cup and was an alternate for the Olympic team.
Reft is the son of Thomas and Grace Reft. He has one brother, Roderick, and two sisters, Cheryll and Charlotte. Alfee has Alaskan, Asian and Filipino roots.
