Middle hitter Delano Thomas (Sacramento, Calif.) joined the U.S. Men’s Team in 2005; prior to that he played on the 2002 U.S. Men’s Junior National Team.
Thomas’ was a member of the University of Hawai’i men’s volleyball team that won the NCAA National Championship in 2002 when he was a freshman. He was named a first team All-American as a sophomore in 2003. He also worked out with the school’s football team as a wide receiver.
Thomas was the United States' leading server at the 2007 Pan American Games with an average of 0.56 aces per set. He was the fourth-leading U.S. scorer with a total of 42 points on 27 kills, six blocks and nine aces. He played in two matches in pool play for the 2008 World League, which the U.S. Men won. He was an alternate for the 2008 Olympic Team.
Thomas is the son of Vannteo Thomas and Kathleen O'Connor. He has two sisters, Ami and Naomi.
