Setter Donald Suxho was born in 1976 in Albania. He was the starting setter for the Albanian National Team (1995-96) and junior national team (1991-96). He also played for the Skenderbeu club team from 1991 to 1996.
He played for the University of Southern California from 1997-2000 and joined the U.S. Men’s National Team in 2001. He was a member of the 2004 Olympic men’s volleyball team that finished fourth. In 2005 he was USA Volleyball’s nominee for SportsMan of the Year after guiding the team to gold medals in the America’s Cup, FIVB World Championship Qualifying Tournament and NORCECA Continental Championships and a silver medal in the World Grand Champions Cup.
In the spring of 2007, Suxho partially ruptured his Achilles tendon while playing for his professional team in Italy. He missed all of the 2007-08 seasons, but is looking to make a comeback in 2009. Donald has a son named Shane.
