The Brazilian libero was the champion of the World League six times (2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007). Sergio played for the first time in the Brazilian adult team in 2001, when he won the South American Championship. In 2003, 2005 and 2007, he won the same competitions. He was the first place in the World Cup (2003) and won a gold medal in the Olympic Games, in Athens. He was world championship in 2002 and 2006. In 2007, after the World League, he won the World Cup, the Pan-American Games and the South American Championship. In 2008, he got his second Olympic medal, the silver, in Beijing, and also got the second place in America’s Cup, besides of moving back to Santander/Sao Bernardo, from Brazil.
