In 2000, he was second placed in the Junior South American Championship. In the next year, Murilo was champion in the Junior World Championship. He played at the team that won the World League in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. In 2005, he won a gold medal in the World Grand Champions. In 2006, he was the champion of the World Championship, in Japan. In 2007, he won the Pan-American Games, the World League, the World Cup, the South American Championship, and was second in the America’s Cup, in Manaus, where he was the captain of the young Brazilian team. In 2008, Murilo won his first Olympic medal, the silver of Beijing Games, and finished second in America’s Cup.
