US middleblocker David Lee is disappointed

From left, an interpreter shares a funny moment with Russian team captain Alexey Kazakov and head coach Daniele Bagnoli as U.S. head coach Alan Knipe and middle blocker David Lee read the statistics at the press conference following their match.

USA Middle Blocker David Lee: "This was disappointing. We definitely wanted to finish the World League with a win and perhaps have the opportunity to advance to the final six. I thought we played well at times, but we gave up a lot of runs of five or six points. It was great to play Russia and congratulations to them."

Russia captain Alexey Kazakov: "Today we did very well with our serving. Our guys got back the feeling of winning. They needed this win before the final round."

USA coach Alan Knipe: "Congratulations to Russia on two counts, winning the match and winning the pool. They did a great job and they earned the pool victory. Russia missed a lot of serves last night. They didn’t miss as many tonight. Because of that we ended up off the net a lot and they got a lot of blocks."

Russia coach Daniele Bagnoli: "I am very happy especially for some of my younger players to have this experience. At the meeting we had this morning, I tried to convince the players that they could play better than yesterday. Yesterday was really terrible. Today we played much better. I thought it was a good situation, especially without our first setter, who had some trouble yesterday.”
