Egypt secure first home win in final 2010 FIVB World League match

The Egypt fans are ecstatic as the hosts pick up their first home win of their 2010 campaign with victory over Finland in Cairo
Cairo, Egypt, July 8, 2010- Egypt downed Finland in their final match of the 2010 FIVB World League with a straight sets (25-23, 25-19, 25-22) win over Finland in Cairo as they finished their campaign with their first home victory.

The win improved the host sides win–loss record to 2-10 but they still finish bottom of Pool C while Finland finish third place.
Egypt's Ahmed Salah topped the scores with 21 points while Hietanen Matti led the visitors with 12 points.
Both teams began well in the opening set before Finland took a slim lead over the hosts, taking advantage of a number of serve errors. However Egypt pulled level at 22-22 before Salah helped them take the opening set with a powerful ace.

Powerful attack and solid block helped the home side dominate the early stages of the second set. Finland tried to fight back and reduced the gap to one point before Egypt increased the pressure to go 2-0 up.

Egypt asserted their dominance in the third through their powerful attack. However efficient defense helped the visitors pull back. The last five points were tense for the home side, but Egypt dug deep to record their first home win of the competition, leaving the Cairo fans happy.

"I am very happy today for our win and hard luck for Finland," Egypt captain Ashrf Abouelhassan said. "I am not only happy for the victory but my happiness because we can come back and win this match."
