Bulgaria sweep past the Netherlands in Varna

Bulgaria never looked like losing the match, showing their dominance over the travelling Dutch side
Varna, Bulgaria, July 3, 2010 - Bulgaria claimed a 3-0 (25-9, 25-17, 27-25) win over the Netherlands on Saturday at home in Varna, keeping the pressure on Pool A leaders Brazil as the 2010 FIVB World League continued.

Head of State Mr. Georgi Parvanov, Sports Minister Svilen Neykov and many members of the Bulgarian parliament were on hand to see the host side overcome the Dutch who failed to find their rhythm throughout the whole match.

Silvano Prandi's side stunned the Netherlands in the first set, leaving them with just nine points.

Netherlands went ahead early on in the second but not enough to make a difference as Bulgaria stormed to a 25-17 win.

The Dutch tried to find some kind of momentum in the third and almost overcame the hosts before Bulgaria dug deep to dismiss any hopes of victory and keep their Final Round aspirations on track.

"I am extremely satisfied with this victory," Bulgaria's captain Vladimir Nikolov said. "It was an important match and we won it with a good difference."

The two sides will face off once more on Sunday at 4pm GMT as Bulgaria continue their efforts to reach the next stage of the competition in Cordoba, Argentina.
