China fall to second home defeat against Serbia

Over 5,000 fans turned out to see the home side succumb to last year's FIVB World League runners-up

Luohe, China 27 June, 2010 - Serbia overcame China 3-2 (21-25, 25-23, 25-17, 21-25, 15-11) in Luohe on Sunday to extend their lead at the top of Pool B, moving one step closer to the 2010 FIVB World League Final Round.

Over 5,000 fans packed into the Luohe Sports Stadium but despite passionate home support the hosts went down in a thrilling match.

China started well and carried their early momentum through to pick up the first set.

A few missed opportunities saw Serbia claw their way back into contention, bringing the scores level at 1-1.

China continued to let mistakes slip into their game in the third set as their serving and passing suffered. However Serbia briefly fell asleep and China pounced on the mistakes to take the game to a tie-break.

However Serbia upped their pace to see out the set and the match to leave China unbeaten.

China will now play France at home as Serbia prepare to take on Italy.
