Concord, June 18, 2010 – The USA held off a strong Egypt team in their 2010 FIVB World League Pool C match on Friday as the hosts beat the African champions, 3-1 (25-19, 25-15, 14-25, 25-21) in Concord, North Carolina.
USA remain in second place in Pool C and improve their record to 3-2. Egypt, in last place, fall to 1-4.
The home side's Clay Stanley topped the scores with 15 points on 14 kills and one block. Reid Priddy added 11 points and Ryan Millar, David Lee and Matt Anderson each scored eight.
Mohamed Badawy topped Egypt's scores with 12 points on 11 kills and one block.
Additionally, USA out-blocked Egypt 11-7 and had six aces while Egypt had three.
After losing the first two sets, Egypt won the third when U.S. setter Donald Suxho went down with an injury. The United States came back in the fourth set with great play from outside hitter Anderson and Stanley at opposite along with strong setting from Kevin Hansen.
