Italy beat China to remain unbeaten in World League

Young Italian spiker Simone Parodi was the home side's top scorer with 16 points alongside China's Chang Ping

Ancona, Italy, June 13, 2010 - Italy recorded their second victory of the weekend over China with a straight-set (25-15, 25-22, 25-22) victory in Pool B of the FIVB World League with a solid performance in Ancona in front of 3.580 fans.

Andrea Anastasi's team is now unbeaten at the end of the second weekend of the tournament.

Despite another good performance from Chang Ping, who topped the scores with 16 points alongside Italy's Simone Parodi, the home side picked up the match easily.

Italy began the match well with good rhythm. The side took the lead from the beginning and although China tried to recover in the latter parts of the set the strength of Italy prevailed and the home team closed the first set 25-15.

China began the second set better, taking an early lead before Italy fought back. The teams then went point to point for most the match before Italy pulled away with a 25-22 win.

Italy served extremely efficiently in the third set as China made too many mistakes. However, the more experienced home side used their momentum and confidence to pick up the set 25-22 and with it the match.

Italy will now face Serbia at home as China travel to France as the FIVB World League continues.
