Serbia beat China in FIVB World League

Sasa Starovic topped the scores with 16 points for Serbia
Nis, Serbia, June 4, 2010 – Serbia began their FIVB World League campaign with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-20) victory over China in front of 3,150 fans in Nis, Serbia on Friday night.

Both teams started well with few errors before Serbia found their rhythm and saw off the Chinese offense to pick up the first set.

Serbia carried their momentum through to the second set with a number of sublime serves and despite the strong Chinese defense, the home side battled through to clinch the second set.

China fought back in the final set and were on the verge of a set victory before Serbia improved their reception to grind out a win.

The two sides are set to clash again on Sunday at 8:15pm local time in Belgrade as the opening weekend of the FIVB World League continues.
