Cuba keep top spot in Pool D with second win over Germany

Wilfredo Leon spikes against Germany during his side's second win of the weekend on Saturday
Havana, Cuba, June 12, 2010 - Cuba beat Germany for the second time in the 2010 FIVB World League 2010 as the host side picked up a 3-1 (25-22, 25-23, 21-25, 25-17) win in Havana to remain unbeaten at the top of Pool D.

Germany jumped to the court determined to dominate the set, and spent much of it with the advantage until Cuba achieved a three-point rally in the closing segment of the match which allowed them to claim the victory.

The second set was also a tight affair as both teams took control of the scoreboard, and it was not until the last moment that Cuba tipped the scales in their favour and got the win after two errors from Germany, one in the attack and the other on reception.

Germany once again dominated the opening of the set in the third and this time picked up the win after holding the advantage from the start.

However it was too little too late for the Germans as Cuba went ahead early in the final set to claim their fourth consecutive victory in this year's tournament.

Cuban Yoandry Leal was the top scorer of the game with 19 points.

Next weekend, Cuba host Poland and Germany will play Argentina in the city of Catamarca as the 2010 FIVB World League continues.
