Germany aim for lead of Pool D

The German block with Georg Grozer, Max Günthör and Robert Kromm stops the attack of Argentina's captain Rodrigo Quiroga
Berlin, Germany, 30 June, 2010 - Germany will look to top Pool D by the end of today as a win over Argentina will see them leapfrog Cuba in the 2010 FIVB World League, all be it ahead of Poland and Cuba's matches this weekend.

However Argentina will be highly motivated for the second match and a number of German players are struggling with injuries.

“We have some sick players and others with smaller injuries,” says Robert Kromm who acted as substitution in the first match for the injured captain Björn Andrae. Kromm, who currently tops the best spikers list with with a success rate of 55%, was crucial in his team's victory on Wednesday as he scored 17 points.

Germany’s coach Raúl Lozano was not completely satisfied with the performance of his team saying: "If we look at the result we have to be contented but in the first two sets we had problems with the accuracy."

"This has to be done better in the second match because I expect a strong Argentinean team tomorrow," he added. "I will prepare my team for this."

It went the same way in the first leg in Catamarca when Argentina advanced in the second match. This is a point Argentina captain Rodrigo Quiroga remembers. "I hope that we again will play better in the second match."
