Poland expect maximum points against Argentina

Poland's opposite Jakub Jarosz overcomes Argentina's block in San Juan in the two sides' previous meeting
Wroclaw, Poland, June 23, 2010 – Poland are set to face Argentina in their opening match of the fourth weekend of the 2010 FIVB World League on Saturday in Wroclaw.

Argentina are the only team that can be certain of an appearance in the Final Round as they will host the final stages of this year’s competition in Cordoba in July.

However Poland are far from qualified for the next round and currently sit behind both Cuba and Germany in Pool D after a difficult opening three weeks away from home where they picked up three wins from six matches. However they are coming off the back of a solid 3-0 win against Cuba.

A number of experienced players return for the hosts including Pawel Zagumny, Mariusz Wlazly, Daniel Plinski and Michal Bakiewicz. All four have been suffering from minor injuries and resting after a difficult season. However Michal Winiarski is a doubt after complaining of knee pain

The match will also be an interesting battle of the coaches as Argentina coach Javier Weber and Poland coach Daniel Castellani were part of the same Argentina side that picked up the bronze medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games.

The first game in Wroclaw’s Centennial Hall will take place on Saturday at 15:15. The second match will be played on Sunday at 18:00.
