Germany seeking revenge over Cuba

Germany coach Raúl Lozano, setter Patrick Steuerwald and opposite Georg Grozer celebrate a point win
Trier, Germany, June 22, 2010 – Germany will hope their return to the FIVB World League will continue  to go smoothly as the side prepares to take on Cuba in Trier later this week as the fourth Intercontinental Round begins this weekend.

After two defeats in Cuba (3-0 and 3-1) the home side will be looking to exact revenge as the visitors embark on three weekends of travel.

“The upcoming games are first ranked versus second ranked and the results are therefore extremely important just as much as the Poland v Cuba match and our matches against Poland one week later,” German coach Raúl Lozano said. “We will have to play better than in Cuba where we were not at our best. The Cubans dominated the net and were better in their attacks and block."

Instead of a struggle against relegation, the Germans are playing for victory in Pool D. The great performance of Georg Grozer, who is leading the “best player rankings” in service and attacks, as well as the professional work of the coaching staff leave the German team dreaming about what else might be possible.
