Improvement a Goal for Both USA and Egypt

Matt Anderson (1), David Lee (4) and Clay Stanley (13) put up a triple block against Egypt on June 18

Concord, N.C., June 18, 2010 – The United States and Egypt will play their second 2010 FIVB World League match at Cabarrus Arena on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET.

Despite a 25-19, 25-15, 14-25, 25-21 victory on Friday, U.S. Head Coach Alan Knipe would like to see his team continue the improvement he has seen in each of the first five World League match.

We’d like to play a complete match with good transitions,” he said. “We’d like to be smoother longer.”

It is not known what starting setter Donald Suxho’s status for the match is. Suxho was injured during Friday’s match and had to leave the game in the third set, which hurt the United States’ rhythm.

Egypt's head coach Antonio Giacobbe also would like to see his team improve, but he is happy with the experience it is getting by playing the U.S.

“We need to play more matches against teams like the United States because it is such great experience,” he said.
