Argentina prepare for third FIVB World League weekend

Argentina wil be looking for their first victory at 2010 FIVB World League in Catamarca
Buenos Aires, Argentina, June 16, 2010 – Argentina are set to face Germany in their third Intercontinental Round of the 2010 FIVB World League on Friday and will be looking to pick up their first victory after losses against Cuba and Poland in the first two weeks.

The team, coached by Javier Weber, currently has two points and sits fourth in Pool D while Germany sit in second, chasing a spot in the final six which Argentina have already qualified for as they host the Final Round in Cordoba.

Middle blocker Gabriel Arroyo will return for the home side following a successful training session on Tuesday. However Facundo Conte remains injured and will not feature for the hosts.

The match will also re-introduce the rivalry between the two Argentine coaches, Weber for Argentina and Raul Lozano for Germany. “It will be a very meaningful match for me due to our rival,” said Weber.

Lozano coached Spain and Poland during three FIVB World Leagues and the last time he faced Argentina was with Poland in Catamarca. It is the only edition of the FIVB World League that has three Argentine Coaches, all in the same Pool D.

The game will be broadcast live at 9:10pm local time on ESPN+.
