Outside hitter Riley Salmon was born July 2, 1976 in Amarillo, Texas, and grew up in League City, Texas. He joined the U.S. National Team in 2001 and is a two-time Olympian, having competed in Athens in 2004 and Beijing in 2008, when the U.S. won the gold medal. He was also a member of the 2008 FIVB World League team that won the gold medal.
At the 2008 Olympics, Salmon finished 14th among all scorers with 83 points on 771 kills, eight blocks and four aces.
In 2009, Salmon (197cm, 89kg) played with the U.S. team that finished second at the NORCECA Continental Championship. He played the winter of 2009-10 for the Vivo/Minas volleyball club in Brazil.
Salmon played college volleyball at Pierce College in Los Angeles. He is married to Millie and has a daughter, Isabel, born in 2005 and a son, Lincoln, was born in 2008.
